Trying out something new. A new way of living. A more simple life. One farmer. One farmer's wife. Two boys. Two rams. Six ewes. Two goats. Two pigs. Three rescue kittens. Nine hens. Two bee hives. Room to roam. Room to get dirty. Room to grow in mid-west soil. A wary farm wife because this is a new life for our family. But God is good and so are fresh eggs.

I never thought...
I'd someday live on a farm and have sheep grazing in my front yard...
Tomatoes
Farmer J whipped up this garden structure to help him grow the most beautifully ripe and delicious tomatoes! Stay tuned...

Fresh strawberries from the farmers market...
make this even better! Not much is better to eat than a freshly picked, sun warmed, ripe strawberry! June wouldn't be the same without homemade strawberry shortcake!

Thank you Summer!
The long, cold, winter makes a day like this every so more enjoyable!
Rocking in my rocking chair on a warm, sunny, Sunday evening! I dream of eventually trading in my rocker for a porch swing or a hammock...and someday having a little cafe table out here, so we can eat a late evening meal with our food warmed in the last rays of light for the day!
Until then, I'll take my beat up rocker and the minutes of peace that break up the passing cars racing by on the highway in front of our farm, just steps from our front stoop!
Our evening soundtrack includes a hooting owl from a nearby tree, the woodpecker pecking away on one of our neighbor's trees (our one and only neighbor), the jingling of bells attached to the ruminates necks, the 18 wheeler wheels in the asphalt, (he's hopefully heading home), the sound of farmer J's flip flops as he walks around the farm doing evening chores, boys busy creating art while seated at the kitchen table, hundreds of song birds chirping away, sheep and goats bleating for a bed night snack and an occasional squeal from a piglet!

Itchy piglets
https://youtu.be/WiMJzx6GZNM
The piglets are now on leashes and halter collars...and exploring their new home! They found some logs to scratch their hard to reach spots!

Good dirt!
Farmer J, with the help of my cousin and his dump truck, got some organic composted cow manure (aged for 4 years) for his garden!
