Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.

I never thought...

I'd someday live on a farm and have sheep grazing in my front yard...

I wonder what other sweet surprises I'm in for...

Tomatoes

Farmer J whipped up this garden structure to help him grow the most beautifully ripe and delicious tomatoes! Stay tuned...

Happy Fathers Day

To Papa T, Papa K and Farmer J,

Our world is better with you in it!  And to farmer J, without you, I wouldn't be a wife or a mother...two most cherished roles in my life! Xoxoxo

Fresh strawberries from the farmers market...

make this even better! Not much is better to eat than a freshly picked, sun warmed, ripe strawberry! June wouldn't be the same without homemade strawberry shortcake!

Thank you Summer!

The long, cold, winter makes a day like this every so more enjoyable!

Rocking in my rocking chair on a warm, sunny, Sunday evening! I dream of eventually trading in my rocker for a porch swing or a hammock...and someday having a little cafe table out here, so we can eat a late evening meal with our food warmed in the last rays of light for the day!

Until then, I'll take my beat up rocker and the minutes of peace that break up the passing cars racing by on the highway in front of our farm, just steps from our front stoop!

Our evening soundtrack includes a hooting owl from a nearby tree, the woodpecker pecking away on one of our neighbor's trees (our one and only neighbor), the jingling of bells attached to the ruminates necks, the 18 wheeler wheels in the asphalt, (he's hopefully heading home), the sound of farmer J's flip flops as he walks around the farm doing evening chores, boys busy creating art while seated at the kitchen table, hundreds of song birds chirping away, sheep and goats bleating for a bed night snack and an occasional squeal from a piglet!

The pig days of summer...

Hot piglets...

Temperatures rising...

Piglets getting a bath on a hot day...

All cleaned and cooled off! It took us four times to realize giving them a bath in the tub wasn't a good idea! They kept pooping in the tub water! We then went with the dump warm, soapy water on them, brush them clean and then rinse them off with the hose!

A vacation by a Great Lake...

A warm and dry yurt
CS Lewis books on CD
S'mores
Scrabble
No screens
A frigid lake
Sleeping to waves and rain
Just the four of us
Misty morning hikes
Harry Potter read out loud
Family vacation

Thank you to Mima and Papa for caring for our farm so we could get away...

Thank you to Mimi and Papa for putting us up in your cabin on our way to and from our big water yurt trip!

Good dirt!

Farmer J, with the help of my cousin and his dump truck, got some organic composted cow manure (aged for 4 years) for his garden!

Now we just have to keep the bunnies, and the sheep, and the goats, and the deer, and the hens, and the turkey, and the ground squirrels out of the garden!
