Trying out something new. A new way of living. A more simple life. One farmer. One farmer's wife. Two boys. Two rams. Six ewes. Two goats. Two pigs. Three rescue kittens. Nine hens. Two bee hives. Room to roam. Room to get dirty. Room to grow in mid-west soil. A wary farm wife because this is a new life for our family. But God is good and so are fresh eggs.

Frogs
Farmer J heard spring toads, or frogs, for the first time today. Spring sounds are in the air!
Listen, and watch, the link below.

Happy Easter!
It's cold and rainy where we live so I doubt there will be an outdoor egg hunt! I'm thankful to my Aunt Sandy and Mima for hosting this year! Sending you all blessings for a lovely day....
...Christ the lord is risen today, alleluia...
Pasture in my front yard?
I came home and saw this....

Warm weather clean up!
Here is what I found outside, now that the snow is all gone!
-one glove
-one pair of mittens
-JJ's football mouth guard
-a roll of duct tape
-lots of Nerf gun bullets (Thanks Santa!)
I did some spring cleaning inside and out today! The ruminants and hens just loved the gorgeous weather we had today! I saw lots of baby lambs running fast and kicking up their heels! Baby boy is only 5 days old and is already to fast to catch (for a snuggle with his human mama). He is growing so fast and seems very healthy and strong! Saoirse and Skye are doing great as well. Today was a good day to be a farm animal and wary farm wife!
Sunday cooking
Pickle and I made banana bread, I made egg salad and J made veggie chili. We are keeping some of the food and taking some of it to friends who just expanded their family through foster care!

Fondue
Next year, will be my 20th year celebrating "Fondue Day" with Farmer J's family and friends! Today was year 19! Family, friends and fondue go together so well.
I've been to this Fondue party as Farmer J's new girlfriend, new fiancé, new wife and there as a new mama to JJ and Pickle. Lots of memories shared over food, with great fellowship.
Today, by the time the cheese, meat and chocolate courses were done, over 8 hours had passed by since we first arrived at the party. I feel blessed to have married into such a lovely family...and tradition.
Wondering which course was my favorite?
Sparrow and the lamb formula
Mice into the lamb formula? Nope. Kittens, and mainly, Sparrow.

Our newest little boy
The ruminants, minus Duncan, have taken over my garbage. It is now a barnage!

Mama Aoife and baby lamb...
are doing great! This little boy lamb is really tall like Saoirse! I'll upload videos from the birth tomorrow! The lamb below is Skye.
She isn't as big as Saoirse but has put on quite the pounds since she was born! The magic of Una's milk and quality hay!
Farmer J is holding her, and he has huge hands, which gives perspective to how big Skye is getting!
Below are pictures of Skye when we were worried about her and giving her lamb replacement milk via bottles (so you can see how healthy she has become)!
