Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.

Spring cleanup on the farm

A beautiful day to clean up the garden, pasture and yard.

Burn permit and all.

Some green hay for the ruminants, as the pasture is greening up but not yet ready for grazing!

Our "little boy" lamb isn't so little! He is getting harder to snuggle! We are thinking of keeping him for breeding, as he is a nice ram lamb!

Frogs

Farmer J heard spring toads, or frogs, for the first time today. Spring sounds are in the air!

Listen, and watch, the link below.

Happy Easter!

It's cold and rainy where we live so I doubt there will be an outdoor egg hunt! I'm thankful to my Aunt Sandy and Mima for hosting this year! Sending you all blessings for a lovely day....

...Christ the lord is risen today, alleluia...

Pasture in my front yard?

I came home and saw this....

Electric fencing in my front yard! Hmmm...

I prefer these guys in the back of our house!

Farmer J said he is just practicing putting up the pig fencing!

Oink, oink

Two of these (or three, if you ask Farmer J) piglets will come to our farm in 6-8 weeks!

Gloucestershire Old Spot piglets are known for their pink skin and black spots! The boys are excited to get our "cute" piglets later this spring. I had to remind them that the piglets' names will be "bacon" and "bbq".

Warm weather clean up!

Here is what I found outside, now that the snow is all gone!

-one glove
-one pair of mittens
-JJ's football mouth guard
-a roll of duct tape
-lots of Nerf gun bullets (Thanks Santa!)

I did some spring cleaning inside and out today! The ruminants and hens just loved the gorgeous weather we had today! I saw lots of baby lambs running fast and kicking up their heels! Baby boy is only 5 days old and is already to fast to catch (for a snuggle with his human mama). He is growing so fast and seems very healthy and strong! Saoirse and Skye are doing great as well. Today was a good day to be a farm animal and wary farm wife!

Sunday cooking

Pickle and I made banana bread, I made egg salad and J made veggie chili. We are keeping some of the food and taking some of it to friends who just expanded their family through foster care!

I love heading into a busy week with baked goods and healthy savory options for dinner!  We do have a messy kitchen to clean up after we get home from delivering the food to our friends...but, really, when isn't our kitchen messy!

Fondue

Next year, will be my 20th year celebrating "Fondue Day" with Farmer J's family and friends! Today was year 19! Family, friends and fondue go together so well.

I've been to this Fondue party as Farmer J's new girlfriend, new fiancé, new wife and there as a new mama to JJ and Pickle. Lots of memories shared over food, with great fellowship.

Today, by the time the cheese, meat and chocolate courses were done, over 8 hours had passed by since we first arrived at the party. I feel blessed to have married into such a lovely family...and tradition.

Wondering which course was my favorite?

Selfie with a pot of warm, dark chocolate!

Ahhhhh-mazing! Good chocolate, Papa!

Sparrow and the lamb formula

Mice into the lamb formula? Nope. Kittens, and mainly, Sparrow.

In case you can't tell, that white powder on Sparrow's head is sweet, lamb formula.

She wouldn't stay still for the picture...

Here you can see her sticky, sweet, formula beard!

Finn is helping lick her clean!

I swear, our three indoor kittens are more work than all our outside animals combined!

Lamb video

Our newest little boy

The ruminants, minus Duncan, have taken over my garbage. It is now a barnage!

2 days old.

Notice his skin wrinkles, he looks part pug and part cow.

He is so tall! This guy will be huge, with his Aoife mama and Duncan dada!

His human "mama", aka me!

Sweet boy!

Mama Aoife and baby lamb...

are doing great! This little boy lamb is really tall like Saoirse! I'll upload videos from the birth tomorrow! The lamb below is Skye.

She isn't as big as Saoirse but has put on quite the pounds since she was born!  The magic of Una's milk and quality hay!
Farmer J is holding her, and he has huge hands, which gives perspective to how big Skye is getting!

Below are pictures of Skye when we were worried about her and giving her lamb replacement milk via bottles (so you can see how healthy she has become)!
