Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.

Duncan the Ram

Duncan is getting some afternoon rest!

A rhubarb respite

Fresh rhubarb from the old farm!

J's family recipe.

My culinary sidekick, Pickle!

Fresh eggs from our hens!

Check out those orange yolks.

For the compost pile.

Hot and fresh out of the oven... A spring rhubarb egg custard pie!  We typically have this pie for my birthday. That was two days ago... But we are still celebrating! Pie making with my boy is a nice break from unpacking and will be a lovely treat after dinner.

From the woods to the prairie!

It's a lot more windy at our new place which makes tree climbing more interesting!

JJ's hanging on!

Can you find the boys?

Still moving...in the rain!

Heading back to the new farm from the old farm! Cleaned out barns and mucked out the coop! Filthy. Farmer J calls it "clean dirt!"

Gotta love the mis-matched socks! One is mine and one is JJ's!

The flock at the end of the rainbow

Ram man arrived

Farmer J bought a Tunis ram from a nearby farm.  He's a hunky guy to our ewes. There is lots of smelling of each other's parts. The wee goat boys are not thrilled to have this stud among them!

What's in here?

This big guy!

The ram is the tall, beautifully sheared sheep in the background!

Surprise

My husband just told me that another creature will be delivered to our farm within a half an hour. He then said he had to go out and check the fencing around the pasture. I'm a little worried and a little excited. Any guesses what it is?

Gardening and Flowers!

Some beauties at the new house!

Manger and new pasture

Moving!

Playing in the rain and puddles at the new place!

How I'm remaining sane!

Thank you mom and dad!

So tired!  But really happy to be in our own place!

This weekend

Last pancake breakfast in the old house! Maybe the new place will make me a better cook!

Playing in the puddles during a rainstorm on a warm afternoon at the new house!

J is trying a straw bale garden this year.

3 lbs of honeybees already live at the new house in the hive within the orchard.

Six days til the big move...

From a child's perspective

Here are some pictures my boys took with my phone!

... The road home! At least for two more weeks!

For all the (human) mamas out there!

(Beatrix smells the lamb's bum to make  HER baby is getting her milk!  Wow- glad I never had to do that.)

Take some time to read this. Everyday, I get Ms. Voskamp's daily blog entry sent straight to my email, a little gift in my in box. Her writing is beautiful, real, honest and thought provoking. She is a role model to me as a writer, blogger, mama, wife, friend, woman and Christian.
