Trying out something new. A new way of living. A more simple life. One farmer. One farmer's wife. Two boys. Two rams. Six ewes. Two goats. Two pigs. Three rescue kittens. Nine hens. Two bee hives. Room to roam. Room to get dirty. Room to grow in mid-west soil. A wary farm wife because this is a new life for our family. But God is good and so are fresh eggs.

A rhubarb respite
Fresh rhubarb from the old farm!
J's family recipe.
My culinary sidekick, Pickle!
Fresh eggs from our hens!
Check out those orange yolks.
For the compost pile.
Hot and fresh out of the oven... A spring rhubarb egg custard pie! We typically have this pie for my birthday. That was two days ago... But we are still celebrating! Pie making with my boy is a nice break from unpacking and will be a lovely treat after dinner.

From the woods to the prairie!
It's a lot more windy at our new place which makes tree climbing more interesting!
Still moving...in the rain!
Heading back to the new farm from the old farm! Cleaned out barns and mucked out the coop! Filthy. Farmer J calls it "clean dirt!"

Ram man arrived
Farmer J bought a Tunis ram from a nearby farm. He's a hunky guy to our ewes. There is lots of smelling of each other's parts. The wee goat boys are not thrilled to have this stud among them!
Surprise
My husband just told me that another creature will be delivered to our farm within a half an hour. He then said he had to go out and check the fencing around the pasture. I'm a little worried and a little excited. Any guesses what it is?

This weekend
Last pancake breakfast in the old house! Maybe the new place will make me a better cook!
