Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.

Gobble, gobble

By the time a new "Storey's Guide to Raising" (something or other) shows up in our house, I know it won't be long...

A few nights back, all four of us piled into our bed and warmed up our cold toes and hands under a pile of hand made quilts. Our bedtime story, Storey's introduction to turkeys, read by Farmer J. The boys were rubbing their eyes, and likely wishing they were in their own beds, by the time J got to reading about heritage breeds!

Whether we are hosting Thanksgiving or not next year, I'm guessing we will be providing the bird!

Ciaran & Padraig are famous!

I'm walking through a hospital I work at and saw this art for sale! These, front and center, goats look just like our guys! Next time you come visit us... You'll see this artwork in person in our kitchen!

My two year anniversary with Norwex!

This January, I've been a Norwex Independent Consultant for two years.  I'll be completely honest... I hate to clean. If we had extra money hanging about, I would happily pay someone to clean our entire farmhouse for me!

As our money goes to hay, straw, fencing and feed, there isn't much leftover for a full-time "cleaning lady."  So, I did the next best thing- and became a Norwex consultant.

Norwex products allow me to clean our farmhouse with significantly less chemicals all while putting a little extra cash in my pocket (for the miniature Jersey cow I want to buy someday!)

Please let me show you (or tell you...or write you) regarding how Norwex can help you clean better, faster and safer, all the while saving you money!

For more information on how to clean with just a cloth and water, check out my personal Norwex website.  At this website, you can also buy products directly from me, online!

Lastly, I encourage you to consider joining my Norwex team.  Norwex lets you make your home a safe haven for your family, free of nasty chemicals polluting your air and body.  Help me spread the news on green, safe cleaning with Norwex products.  You'll free great about what you re doing for yourself, your family and our planet!  And... get this... you'll make a little money while you are at it!

Double chocolate deliciousness

Pickle loves to bake with me and JJ loves to snitch, so we make a lot of baked goods. We have an unwritten rule in our house that we don't buy baked goods or box mixes, if you want something, you make it by scratch! Donuts are the exception! I'm not using a deep fryer! This "rule" saves us money and inches off our waistline.

Yesterday after school, Pickle said he was hungry for double chocolate chip cookies! Can't argue with that, lil man! I was looking for an excuse to use my new Penzies Cocoa Farmer J got for me for Christmas anyway!

I found this recipe on Pinterest...

The only change I made was using 1/2 the amount of cocoa and less chocolate chips...and it was still plenty Choco-licious!

This recipe is great for the winter because it only calls for one egg- with winter eggs a scarcity- this recipe gets two thumbs up from me!

Next time, I would double the batch though, as these cookies won't lass more than 24 hours in our house!

Next time, I'll make the balls a little smaller, so they don't melt into each other and flatten out so much!

Homemade double chocolate chip cookies in the cookie jar, made with love and with the help of little hands, is always a good thing in the middle of winter!

Norwex New Year

I went to warm up the last veggie enchilada for dinner last night. I was getting ready to put my pan in the oven and J said, "Don't you have a Norwex thing to cover that?!" Yes, dear smart husband, I do!

No need for aluminum foil waste here!  Plus this bugger is dishwasher safe!

I used the smaller one as a gripper to loosen the tight and slippery salsa jar open!

Norwex again and again is making my life simpler and healthier!

Dreaming of seeds

Who else is starting to dream of planting in warm, brown dirt?

New Years Day is for...

Dreaming...not resolutions!

One farm dream for us...an organic micro garden!

And this guy is someone to learn from:

I just bought his book for Farmer J!  Don't tell!
